Miracle escape for young couple in 70m car plunge
Two 19 year olds were counting their lucky stars this weekend after a death-defying 70m plunge in their car, down the cliff face at Punto del Hidalgo.
The car the two teenagers were traveling left the narrow North coast road late at night and careered down the steep rocky wall. The emergency services in the area responded to the incident and the fire service and two ambulances were soon on the seen to conduct the rescue operation. Whilst the extent of their injuries is not known, they are very lucky to even be alive.
Their rescuers managed to bring them back up to the road before they were taken to La Laguna hospital to be treated.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
