Snakes in Silencio!

Nowhere near this big thankfully!
Residents in Costa del Silencio, Arona were surprised to find a slithery new neighbour had moved in yesterday. A 1.5 metre snake was found roaming the area during the afternoon. Local police and the Guardia Civil were called to investigate and found the snake enjoying the delights of the Garañaña area.
Rather than tackling the beastie with their bear hands, they waited for Service for Protection of Nature (SEPRONA) a unit of the Guardia Civil Las Americas to come and round it up. Up until yesterday afternoon it was unknown how the snake could have reached the area other than escaping someones home or – heaven forbid – being released intentionally!
There are no indigenous snakes to be found in the wild in Tenerife, however during a walk along the seafront of Los Cristianos or Las Americas, couples have reported confrontations with slimy reptilian beasts selling snake oil whilst handing out “winning” scratchcards….
