Tenerife Police attack caught on camera

New photographic evidence has emerged, strengthening the case against a police officer accused of attempting to abduct a 24 year old Norwegian tourist on March 13th this year.

The police officer, from Santiago del Teide, had allegedly befriended the girl and offered her a lift in his car. After she agreed he took a different route to the one she was expecting to take before trying to force himself upon her.  After stopping at a petrol station, it appears that the Norwegian had tried to escape but the officer pursued her, attempting to return her to his police car. Throughout the incident the cafeteria employee seemed to remain impassive, crossing his arms and ignoring her pleas for help. The policeman took her from the cafe and tried to force her back into his van which was parked outside.

The officer had been suspended pending an investigation but was released by the courts after being charged only with “unlawful restraint” and ordered not to go within 500 metres of the woman, who has since returned to her country.

These new photos only came to light after it emerged that the officer accused was due to return to duty on April 3oth. The images were captured on the cafe´s CCTV.

  1. Oh my god! I hope they kick him off the force.
What the hell does he think he is doing? So if no-one had taken pictures he would be back in job like nothing happened?

No excuse now – the camera doesn’t lie

  2. Wow – that is really scary.
You should be able to trust the police. If you cant ask them for help where does that leave you.
I hope he loses his job but it will be his family that suffer if he has one
good thing they caught him on the camera or he might have got away with it

  3. how many years would a non police officer get for abduction?

  4. “No excuse now – the camera doesn’t lie”

A good thing the camera was there as it seems like not a lot was going to happen until the pictures came out.

“You should be able to trust the police. If you cant ask them for help where does that leave you.”

It certainly is a problem when you cant trust the police to come and help you….

“how many years would a non police officer get for abduction?”

Certainly seems to be a double standard here doesn’t there?

  5. Hi, i think this girl should make big noise (or her friends). If not, i will make it.
I am going to take these pic s and publish them in several magazines & newspapers
in Europe. I have many reporter friends. We have to punish this guy and his place in a
PRISON ! For several years ! I am serious about this. If it would have been somebody
from the street, a stranger, i would have thought ok, these things happen a lot.
But a POLICE officer ??? No, i wil do something..

  6. Good for you Tom!
When I first reported this, it was pretty much only the local media who had it but the Norwegian media have got a hold of the story now!!

So hopefully the government here will begin to realise that they can no longer turn a blind eye to the bullies and crooks that infect law enforcement here.

I know it happens everywhere with Police but here in Tenerife they seem a lot more shifty than your average plod!

I have seen first hand just how vindictive they can be towards expatriates – I know quite a few bar owners who endure no end of abuse at the hands of bent coppers and they are all expats.

They say “charity beings at home” perhaps they should say the same thing about law enforcement in Tenerife….

  7. At first, i apologize for my english, im a spaniard citizen and i have to say that im very very ashamed for the behaviour of this policeman, but its a truth that the police here in Spain is out of control; cases like Coslada, Malaga Airport, 100 kg of cocaine dissapeared from a police station in Sevilla… are cases just of 2008!!!
The foreign people and the tourist can do more than we, because the tourism if very important to us as you know. Please do all possible to notice to your countries this case, inform to the newspapers and the media, please. Thanks so much.

  8. OMG!

As a frequent visitor spending up to 4 weeks a year in Tenerife I totally horrified that something as ugly as this kind of cave man behaviour remains. How dare he behave like this to such a young woman, who does he think he is, are the police so predjuice towards people travelling and brining their hard earned cash to this wonderful island?

Can we assume that the numbers of police needed is as a direct result of tourism so if we stop the tourism we can reduce the numbers needed to police the resorts!

It makes you wonder how often this really does happen, and how many incidents go unreported – because people will never question a police officer whi is man handling a toursist into the back of a car, well why would they?

This kind of abuse of power should never be tolerated, how do we ensure this man is brought to task for his sickening behaviour, he really does need some help as this is not normal by any stretch. Please make this man pay, start a online petition this could be one for twitter or facebook! Might just give that a go and see what happens.

Send him to jail, he could maybe become a “bitch” for one of the guys he put away – once a sex pest ….well you know how it goes!
